First time wearing my new Spier & Mackay chinos. Being a new dad, I figure it’s in my best interest to wear as much machine-washable clothing as possible, particularly pants since that’s where a spit up is most likely to land when I’m sitting with my baby in my lap. So after trial and error, I landed on a size I think works okay. Anyway, here they are, in a beautiful (but admittedly very fall-esque) color they call “copper.”

Spier & Mackay chinos (the copper color is out of stock now but Rust is somewhat similar)

My gun club Eidos jacket is one of my all time faves and this is my go-to outfit to wear with it. If you wear a size 38 US, you can buy one just like it on eBay. Instagrammer thezanification is selling his because it doesn’t fit him anymore. It has jetted pockets instead of patch but otherwise is the same cut (the Lorenzo cut, which was an homage to Florentine tailors; later it was altered and called the Ciro, and separately the No Man Walks Alone cut descends from this cut too). The Lorenzo cut is cut in a pretty normal length by today’s standards, but someone who wears a Regular length normally might be able to wear it and still have it look proportional. So check out his measurements.

Shop the Look

Blue OCBD (mine is an indigo wash from Eidos): Brooks Brothers blue original Polo collar Oxford shirt

Billy Reid olive five pocket pants (mine are Billy Reid’s “Ashland” pants from a few years back)

Suede jodhpur boots (mine are Christian Kimber x Eidos collab from FW2015): The high-water mark of jodhpurs, Saint Laurent Hedi boots or Meermin suede jodhpurs

Nashville Fashion Week has been happening here, and on Wednesday night, March 27 they had a men’s style event (check out a full gallery of images here). I bought a ticket to go, mostly just to get out of the house, but also to meet some new people and see some of the friends I’ve made in the Nashville menswear world via The Commonwealth (shout out to Manny LeGrair who got all that going). It was a worthwhile event to that end. Pictured above is me with John Thiel of Eric Adler clothing and Yongdong Zhao, a student from China who I was pleased to meet (first photo); me in the group of guys who have become part of The Commonwealth “family” who were at the event (second photo); me with Manny Legrair himself, who was one of two featured “hosts” of the event.

I wore my emerald green Eidos jacket, light wash Proper Cloth denim popover, off-white J.Crew jeans and snuff suede penny loafers (hilariously, nobody ever got a photo of my feet).

Shop the Look

Fridays I tend not to wear a sport coat just because a lot of times I’ll be helping clean the house after finishing my work hours, running errands and getting ready for the weekend. So I mostly just wore a pair of chinos and OCBD, but to run errands I threw on the summer weight Spier & Mackay MTO sport coat they gifted me last summer. I dig this jacket because it’s so lightly constructed, and the fabric feels so hard-wearing, that it almost feels like a chore jacket or something more rugged. It was a nice spring day so I went sockless, too.

Shop the Look

Green summer weight sport coat (mine is made from a Gladson Portofino wool-linen-silk-polyamide blend jacket in Spier & Mackay’s Neapolitan cut): Suit Supply herringbone green jacket

Brooks Brothers blue Oxford cloth button down shirt

Chinos in khaki (mine are old Brooks Brothers Red Fleece chinos): Spier & Mackay British khaki chinos

Suede tassel loafers (mine are Allen Edmonds’ Acheson model, made for Club Monaco a few years ago): Meermin suede tassel loafers

I was in Cincinnati last week for work, where the weather was that transitional spring weather that’s neither…
