Last Week’s Daily Fits—April 1-5

I was in Cincinnati last week for work, where the weather was that transitional spring weather that’s neither warm nor cold.

Sometimes I overthink packing for just five days. Particularly since I’m in the office when I’m in Ohio, I like to wear a jacket every day and I don’t want to wear the same one the whole time, so I usually bring two. Then it’s a game of versatility with shirts, pants and shoes (and ties if I choose).

This time, I packed two sport coats (both cold weather weight, my emerald green cashmere blend jacket and my navy cashmere blend jacket), two pairs of shoes (light suede tassel loafers and light suede jodhpurs), three pairs of trousers (mid wash denim, copper chinos, and white jeans), and four shirts (two blue OCBDs, a cutaway collar blue stripe shirt and my washed denim popover).

Monday was my travel day, so Tuesday’s the first day worth showing. This blue stripe end-on-end weave Eidos shirt is one of my all time favorites I own. It looks great dressed up with a tie but equally awesome dressed down worn open collar with jeans. Since it was transitional spring weather, I picked things that kind of offset one another: white jeans (warm weather associations) with the dark green cashmere blend jacket (cold weather associations). Boots (which I wear more in winter since they’re taller and wear warmer) which offset the saturated blue shirt (which I feel is right at home in springtime).

Wednesday I said to heck with alternating days and wore my white jeans again. I figure, people wear the same normal jeans every day, why should white ones be any different? I wore my tassel loafers, though (sockless!), and alternated jackets (donning my navy one). Paired with my other favorite Eidos shirt (a really cool light blue stripe from the 2015 Ischia collection in a cotton weave called “Airtex” that’s super breathable and light).

Packing is all about versatility. I brought these chinos by wearing them on the drive up to Ohio. I wanted to wear them during the week, but realized they sort of clashed with the shade of suede on both pairs of shoes I’d brought. They have a more mustard yellow undertone, where as the suedes had a bit more of a pink undertone. I wore them anyway, and it maybe was a bit of a swing and a miss below. But up top, I’m always a fan of the washed denim shirt with basically anything.

Bonus weekend pic of our happy family!

Since it was 75° and sunny I broke out the tan summer suit, though I broke it up and wore just the jacket with my Spier & Mackay off white cotton-linen trousers. Paired with my Eidos Airtex shirt, navy grenadine tie, and my Beckett Simonon punch-cap shoes.
