Recommended Shops

Here are the shops I have bookmarked and shop at regularly. I've organized them by multi-brand retailers, single-label brands/makers, big-name stores and at the bottom, watch shops. Help support this site by buying through these links—I get a sales commission with some of them.

Also be sure to check out Nashville menswear shops and support local businesses!

Where to buy a suit and/or other tailored clothing

Accessibly priced at a good quality level

Spier & Mackay

This Canadian brand packs a lot of value in good-quality menswear. As a first suit or blazer they're an outstanding choice. This is my go-to place for trousers.

SuitSupply

SuitSupply makes a good product at a great price point. Their user experience is outstanding, including the shipping and return experience.

Natalino

Natalino is London-based but makes an outstanding Neapolitan aesthetic at a price point that's hard to believe. Read my review here.

Proper Cloth

These guys do great online made-to-measure shirts. Two of my most-worn, favorite shirts are from there. I prefer the Soft Roma Cutaway and Soft Ivy Button-Down collars for most everything, with Soft Roma Spread for shirts I know I'll only ever wear with a tie. Check out my guide for getting the most out of your purchase, then use the above link and code MUSINGS10 to get 10% off your first order.

Mid-level price with higher quality

Besnard

In the spirit of his grandfather's heritage as a master tailor in the Hague, Victor Besnard's brand is making a high-taste menswear brand with high value for the dollar. Read my review here.

Cavour

Based in Oslo, Cavour makes a great in-house line of tailoring, which I reviewed in 2022. Their global shipping and return policy is also a major bonus.

Anglo-Italian

Based in London, making high-quality tailoring in Naples, Anglo-Italian meshes those two worlds together in soft tailoring made from austere fabrics right at home in England. Read my review here.

Ralph Lauren

The world of Ralph is much bigger than tailoring, but his blazers and suits are still a solid go-to offering for that classic Americana if that's what you're looking for. His Polo Ralph Lauren line is, to be honest, usually more stylish than his expensive Purple Label.

Sid Mashburn

Sid is like a slightly different take on the classic Americana that you'd find at Ralph Lauren—a bit more polished, a bit more real. His suits lean a bit more Italian, but still sit squarely within American style.

Mid-to-high priced with quality to match

The Armoury

One of the best menswear stores in the world. Their in-house Armoury-branded line of tailoring (made by Ring Jacket) is a go-to for soft tailoring. They also sell higher-end product from the likes of Orazio Luciano and other tailors. My review of Ring Jacket includes information about the Armoury's line of tailoring.

Michael Jondral

Based in Germany, Michael Jondral carries a range of high-end makers like Orazio Luciano, De Petrillo and Attolini.

No Man Walks Alone

Tailoring has not been the primary emphasis of NMWA's business for years, but they have an excellent house label of tailoring made in Tuscany by Sartoria Carrara. They make occasional ready-to-wear, and do made-to-measure if you're able to make it to their NYC showroom. Read my review here.

Where to buy cool casual clothes

You're not going to wear a blazer all the time. Here are some great places to stock up on the casual things.

No Man Walks Alone

This shop carries an excellently curated selection of the best and most interesting clothing from some difficult to find labels.

Spier & Mackay

Being based in North America rather than Europe, the casual clothes SM makes resonate with me a little more. Jeans, sweaters, polo shirts, casual button-ups are all solid choices.

Ralph Lauren

Lots to love from Ralph, though the primary things I've gotten from him the last several years have been shoes and ties. That said, he's got some of the most killer outerwear, and his tailoring options can be great—less boring and better styling, generally, than Brooks Brothers.

Todd Snyder

A lot of what people think of when they think of the glory days of J.Crew was actually just what Todd Snyder did when he was their menswear creative director.

Kent Wang

Stylish clothes with a no-gimmicks sales model. Kent's spread-collar polos are a great staple, his swim trunks are excellent, and his shawl collar cardigans are wonderful.

J.Crew

Not quite the powerhouse it once was, but I still love a lot of the ideas J.Crew puts out. Especially for someone at the beginning of building a wardrobe, it is an excellent place to get some solid menswear.

Corridor

Corridor is an NYC label that's always good for a camp collar shirt in a satisfyingly textured fabric, or a pair of casual pants in a glorious linen.

More great shops

These are more places I'm always looking at for stylish clothes, accessories and more.

Sartoria di Lusso

Naples-based retailer which sells overstock luxury menswear at a discount. Brands include Isaia, Barba, De Petrillo and more. Don't miss my favorite under-the-radar shirtmaker Vincenzo di Ruggiero. Use code MITCHELL15 for 15% off your order.

Mr Porter

Mr Porter is the Amazon equivalent in the menswear space. Tons of well regarded brands in loads of categories, from low (J.Crew) to high (Tom Ford).

Baltzar

Sweden-based retailer Baltzar exists mostly online, though they have two partner stores in Malmo, Sweden, and London. Nonetheless they carry some of the stalwart brands I like—Ring Jacket, 100 Hands, William Lockie, and more.

eBay

I troll eBay almost every day. I have saved searches for all kinds of things. High-end suits and Italian label sport coats for instance.

Dapper Woodworks

A small business run by one guy, if you need a great solution for storing your ties, these are incredible. The fit and finish is incredible, and the options are great. Read my review, then use code MM10 for 10% off your order.

End.

Another large curator of brands from all over the world, End has lots to offer just about anyone.

Brooks Brothers

Not nearly what it once was, but still a reliable source for decent OCBDs, chinos, ties and knitwear.

Grailed

Menswear resell site, good for niche collaborations or small brands that get lost on the one-size-fits-all resell sites like eBay.

Beckett Simonon

A shoe company that uses a made to order business model, which they say lets them reduce pricing. They gave me a pair of shoes and they're hands down one of my favorites. USE CODE MM20 for 20% off your first purchase.

Watches

Mayors Fine Jewelers

Authorized dealer for many luxury watch companies—Omega, Cartier, Rolex, Tudor, Nomos, etc.

Watches of Switzerland

Authorized dealer of just about every luxury watch brand you would want, including pre-owned—Rolex, Omega, Cartier, Tudor, Grand Seiko, whatever.

eBay

eBay has a great authenticity guarantee on watches priced above $2,000. Sometimes they'll run coupons for 10% off watches, making the deals even better.

Vaer Watches

Micro-brand with respect for the industry and its history making new watches that neither slavishly reproduce existing designs nor veer into wild and weird.

Watch Charts

Watch Charts is a website that tracks watch values, but also has a powerful search tool for finding watches for sale from a variety of private sellers on forums like Watchuseek, Reddit and Rolexforums, in addition to Japanese sellers, eBay listings and more. I've used it to find watches for sale on those sites, and it's extremely useful. As always with personal sales—buy the seller.
