A Fond Farewell to Meriggi

Meriggi, the stylish new brand who made fine Italian cotton knits, tees, and swimwear is sadly going out of business. Alberto Solana told me it pained him and his business partners, but it just was not taking off as expected.

In addition to the Italian cotton knit sweater they sent me last year, I’ve also gotten their linen knit tees in both brown and navy, as well as a pair of their swim trunks. Everything is fantastic and highly recommended.

I’m always impressed by the level of taste and the vision present in a brand like Meriggi. Having been running this site for as long as I have, as a side project, I know how incredibly time-consuming, costly, and challenging it is to bring your vision to life (I have not been able to do so with my site, by the way).

When I saw Meriggi after they first reached out to me last year, I assumed they’d been at it for years given the level of fit and finish their whole vibe had. Kudos to the team for that. The photography, the designs, the fit and fabrics—everything is great.

They’re running a final-final sale with code FINITO. Of course, you’re not required to buy everything at fire-sale prices if you want to give them a little cash boost here at the end. But whatever price you choose to pay, you’ll be pleased.

Some notes on sizing. I wear a 42R US suit jacket. I took size L in the tops and am pleased with the fits. I wear a size 36 trouser and took XL in the swim trunks because they’re drawstring elastic waist, and I just really want full-fitting shorts these days.

Cheers to Meriggi.
