SuitSupply Improved Its Double Breasted Lapel Shape

SuitSupply is rolling out its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, and I noticed something nice about their jackets: the double-breasted lapel shape has improved.

Previously you’d see one of two DB lapels:

The skinny batwing, like on this tuxedo that’s still on their site:

Or the half-circle with the weirdly gigantic collar jutting out to meet the peak like on this suit:

Now however, they seem to have rolled out a much more attractive lapel shape. A bit straightened out, with a less pronounced collar, and a bit of a more horizontal angle to the peak. This great staple 4-season high-twist suit exemplifies it:

The end result makes for a much more balanced look, at least based on the model photos:

This adds to an overall feeling I’ve been having toward SuitSupply lately: they’re getting better. Fabrics feel more tasteful; silhouettes are loosening to bring some drape, but not in a cosplay-type way; designs are becoming a bit more classic.

Prices have crept up to match the better look, I’m afraid, but there are still affordable entry-level suits, like this perennial navy suit.

Kudos to SuitSupply for continuing to offer a great product with excellent customer experience, and continuing to improve its designs.
