This feels like such a dumb post to write, but I do get questions and do have favorites for daily wear socks and underwear, so here’s the post [affiliate links below, so please click them and buy stuff to make me rich]:
For 7-8 years I have worn nearly exclusively these Cole Haan socks—the pique textured crew socks, in navy. They do price breaks when you buy multiple pairs.
And for the last 4-5 years I have worn exclusively these Calvin Klein modal boxer briefs. These are on sale currently at Nordstrom for 25% off.
Some may not like that the boxers don’t have a fly, so be aware of that. It doesn’t bother me, however; I just pull them down in the front through my pants’ fly like I’m a 6-year-old when it’s time to go. For the fabric, I switched to modal several years ago because it’s sorta-natural as a fiber but wicks moisture fairly well and doesn’t bunch up like cotton.
As for the socks, I know many guys prefer over-the-calf socks, but the only OTC socks I have tried that don’t fall down from the continuous friction against my pant legs caused by standing and sitting are compression socks. I like these because the pique knit texture gives them some visual interest that looks good worn with casual pants like jeans or chinos, while they’re dressy enough to work with tailoring outright.
I just bought a bunch of pairs of both to replace ones that are wearing out.
