It’s time for some clearance over at Drake’s once again, with their Archive Sale launching today and going only 48 hours (ending Friday, presumably at midnight GMT). Here’s the link to the sale in US dollars. Check back below as I add some recommendations.

Steals on things I recommend and/or dig

OCBDs—you can’t go wrong. I love the collar shape of theirs, and feel it’s the iconic button down shape of this era.

Washed denim button-down shirt—good quality bleached denim shirts are worth the money. This one has that iconic button down collar I mentioned above and you just know the denim quality is great. Buy it.

Cotton ripstop jungle jacket—I have a navy cotton ripstop M65-style jacket from a different maker, and think it’s an excellent lightweight outer layer for utilitarian needs. This one has all the right details that elevate it just above a normal milsurp kinda thing while still being useful.

Navy hopsack wool double breasted blazer with gold buttons—I replaced the gold buttons on my own DB blazer with smoke MOP. But either way, this is a classic, and I really like the Drake’s lapel shape and overall silhouette.

Emerald linen-silk sportcoat—the soft tailoring Drake’s does looks mighty fine worn casually like I like to do, for instance with denim or chinos. This jacket looks like a lovely shade of green, perfect for white jeans in the summer.

Fawn Tuscan tweed sportcoat—beautiful color, this would be a perfect go-to tweed jacket for the cold months

Guncheck black, brown and blue sportcoat—another excellent go-to tweed jacket

Dark gray glen plaid alpaca/wool suit separatesHere is the link to the trousers. I posted about this suit last time there was an archive sale. It still strikes me as an outstanding, subdued winter suit that you could wear casually. Picture navy long-sleeve polo and chocolate suede chukka boots with this thing.

Solaro suit—the true, original wool solaro fabric

Mid gray flannel trousers—flat front in a classic VBC cloth in a sharp tapered silhouette.

Camel cotton overshirt—if the jungle jacket above is a bit too utilitarian, an overshirt like this, with its hip pockets and breast pocket, would be a great alternative. It’ll wear a bit sleeker without the bellows pockets, but still has some storage with those hip pockets. It comes in other colors but I like camel since it’d look great with jeans.

Indigo cotton overshirt—but yeah if you wanted a dark color, this indigo is the way to go.

Ecru (off-white) jeans—still substantially more expensive than my go-to recommended off-white jeans from Sid Mashburn, I’ve heard really good things about the Drake’s denim cut. In particular, the higher rise and slight more straight leg pair very well with tailored jackets.

Dark rinse jeans—again, very pricey but the silhouette and quality of the jeans are raved about.

Raglan sleeve herringbone coat, in brown or also in gray herringbone (my preference)—I saw this glorious coat at Pitti in January 2020, and it’s an absolute gem. It’s a big, dramatic silhouette. Come this fall/winter, when we’re back out in public in full force, I say go for some drama.

Navy blue casentino overcoat—casentino is that fuzzy, 1970s-looking fabric that was huge 8 years ago at Pitti. You either love it or hate it, but if you love it, this coat looks very swell

Marcella bib tuxedo formal shirt—between the marcella bib or the pleated tuxedo shirt, I prefer marcella. $85 is a steal if you have or intend to have a tuxedo at some point.
