Recommends—Blue Reverse Stripe OCBD

I’ve got a half dozen solid blue OCBDs, a pink one, a white one, and two university stripe ones. But the one I don’t have, but have been desiring for a good 18 months now is a reverse stripe in blue. That is, where fabric has a blue base, with narrower white stripes.

Drake’s has had one in seasons past, and I’m glad to see they’ve brought it back (in perhaps a lighter shade of blue than previously) for the fall-winter 2019 collection. $215 is a pretty salty price, though if I were to think about the blue OCBDs I have, and amortize the cost over the period of time I’ve had them, I’m definitely getting my money’s worth.

Anglo-Italian, which tends to keep certain categories constantly on hand as a continuous collection, also has one, which they restock every few months. I lean slightly toward theirs, for the super long, Italian button down collar points with a spread expression (as opposed to more of a point collar expression, as Drake’s is). Coming out to about $155 before shipping here in the States (and who knows how low the Pound will go as Brexit approaches!), it beats Drake’s, but is still admittedly high.

Brooks Brothers has one in a slightly darker shade of blue in their sport shirt model (alpha sized). $140MSRP but they have sales regularly enough you could reliably pick it up for less, no doubt. It’s got a front pocket and a completely unlined collar.

And for a budget option, mall brand Abercrombie & Fitch has one for $58 in alpha sizing. Small, sad collars with no roll. But maybe that doesn’t matter to you.
