I’ll Be at Pitti 102 Next Week—What Content Do You Want To See?

Pitti Uomo is a tradeshow—booths set up in a large campus of multiple buildings for designers, brands and makers to show their collections to retail buyers come from all around the globe to make orders for their shops to sell the following year.

The frenzy surrounding the tradeshow from bloggers, peacocks and photographers has come on in the last 10 years or so as it’s gained notoriety outside the strictly business-oriented group of participants. The Sartorialist is primarily to thank for that.

I’m going next week for equal parts content generation, inspiration, and social and business opportunities. Two years ago I attended on Styleforum’s dime, part of a team of three who covered the show and its attendant happenings, in the role of photographer. I took my orders, went where they told me to go, did what they told me to do, worked my tail off and still had a great time. I’ve published a handful of pieces showcasing some of my favorite photos from that week here, which you can find at this landing page.

This time, I’m flying solo on my own dime to create content for this site and my readers.

Speaking of whom, I’d like to ask you: What do you want me to cover while I’m there?

As a refresher, my emphasis last time as a man under authority was to take street style photos and to photograph what my team did—whether that be recording podcasts, meeting with brands or having dinner.

But I plan to do more than that. I plan to wander the halls of the show floor a bit more, checking out the collections. I plan to do a bit more Instagram work in the form of stories, posts and Reels. I plan to attempt to capture some of the delightful chance encounters you find yourself having on the street.

  • If there’s a brand you want to see, what is it?
  • If there’s a style of coverage you’d like to see me emphasize, what would it be?
  • What’s missing from the coverage everybody else puts out there that perhaps I could fill in?
  • Please let me know in the comments below.

Don’t forget to follow my Instagram @menswearmusings to see the most up to date photos and coverage as I post them. I intend to post here, too, but may not be able to keep up with it in the frantic environment I expect to find myself in.

At the end of Pitti, I have a few extra days before I fly home, which I intend to use recovering a bit, exploring a bit and catching up on whatever I missed.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions!

  1. I want to see pics of people wearing at least 11–12 accessories – otherwise don’t bother ;)

  2. While I like the “street style” photos of attendees, what I would like to see more of is new season previews from brands like Drake’s (I think you did this previously) Valstar, IM, Bigi Cravatte, TYT, DBF?, Rota?) Honestly I don’t know who will be there, and who won’t…. Does Fox Brothers have booth with fabric previews? I would be interested in that if so,

Maybe it is just me, but I could do with less Pitti Party pics.

    1. Thank you Hayes! I plan to wander the booths more this year. I don’t know who all will be there either but will endeavor to post more from their booths if they’re open to it (DBF specifically asked us not to last time for fear of fast fashion stealing her designs).
