For the dad who loves style, quality and luxury, here’s a practical gift guide to help you find something just perfect for him. Some of these suggestions are sized, which can be tricky, but most are one-size-fits-all.
The overarching premise here is this: Give him something you know he wants but wouldn’t buy for himself.
I would also encourage anyone not to be afraid to get a gift card to a specific shop you know he likes so he can make a choice for himself!
So read on for my Father’s Day gift guide for 2025. The image is not clickable—the product links are listed below!
If you’re out of time and want to simply get a gift card, here are links to all my favorite stores where a gift card would be a major delight to me:
(Links below may be affiliate links that earn commission when you make a purchase—it’s how I am able to keep making this site and do fun coverage of events like Pitti Uomo. Thanks!)
- Goldfels belt. Get an exclusive discount of 15% for my readers using code MM15. This may be the belt to end all belts for the guy who dresses up. It’s very forgiving on weight fluctuations. It’s beautiful and high-quality. It’s sturdy. And it’s practical. For a style-conscious guy, a luxury belt like this would be an awesome gift he’d get use out of every single day. My review covers how it works more in-depth.
- Gift card at Proper Cloth. ProperCloth is the go-to shirt company I recommend to everybody. They are head and shoulders above all the rest—their fabric curation, their collar options, their editorials and creative direction are all in the league of many luxury brands. Except it’s made custom to your measurements and delivered in about 2 weeks. Since it is custom, stay safe with a gift card, and let your guy customize for himself. I have a guide for Propercloth here.
- Antoniella pocket square or scarf or neckerchief. Get an exclusive 10% discount for my readers using code MUSINGS10. Pocket squares are great as a one size fits all gift. This is kind of the ultimate boutique pocket square company—it’s a husband and wife team who make all the artwork by hand from scratch. No archival prints here. Kate Antoniella is hand drawing every design herself based on inspiration from her and her husband’s two-continent life (he’s from Italy, she’s from New England, and they split their time between the two).
- A Barbour jacket. In the cool and cold rainy weather, the Barbour jacket really is a major style upgrade from a more technical type of rain jacket. Those have their own vibes, but a Barbour just always looks so. damn. good. I have an Ashby, I would also recommend the Bedale (same shorter length, just a wider body), and the Beaufort is kind of the all-time classic, longer version. Based on my Instagram engagement and views alone, I can tell you everybody loves a Barbour. Also available at J.Crew.
- This long-sleeve Spier & Mackay polo shirt. They’re running 20% off til June 12, so now’s a good time to buy. Polo shirts are the default shirt for a lot of guys. A secret to better style is taking something and giving it a little upgrade or two. This shirt has two upgrades: Being long-sleeve makes it a little more stylish (roll up those sleeves!), and the collar is upgraded. I wear a size 42R in suiting and took size L.
- The No-Date Omega Seamaster 300m. A bit-ticket gift for a big-ticket dad. The Seamaster 300m is Omega’s most popular diver, for good reason. It goes with everything. Looks great on every wrist. Cool tie-in with Bond if that’s your man’s thing, but outstanding quality that’ll be an heirloom for the children to enjoy. It’s my favorite Swiss watch ever.
- A new watch strap from Anchor Strap Co. Get an exclusive discount of 20% for my readers with code MWM20. Putting a new strap on your watch can make it feel like getting a new watch, and Anchor Strap’s straps are thoughtfully designed. I used to think a nylon strap was a nylon strap was a nylon strap, but I’ve learned the sizing, hardware, materials and construction matter—and Anchor Straps are among my favorite, most-worn.
- Swim trunks from Wolf vs. Goat. Made in Italy from outrageously great fabric, with a glorious 5-inch inseam. The alpha sizing makes it a little easier to buy. As their product description says, in a demure bullet point: Sexy AF.
Functional accessories
- Some SPF skin cream. My friend and colleague Joshua wrote a great no-nonsense skincare guide that I published last year, which has the run-down of skincare that men should really be doing. But, to help give him a start without a full-blown routine based on tons of research, just a basic SPF if where they should begin.
- A nice, slim wallet from Secrid, Crown Northampton or La Portegna. Secrid has functionality at its heart, but is wrapped in quality leather. Crown Northampton makes in Northampton, England, from the highest quality materials. La Portegna makes leather card cases that have less room for cash and junk, but that has suited me just fine these last 6-7 years.
- A nice canvas tote. Filson’s is sturdy and will outlast us all. I take mine as a photographer during the Pitti Uomo tradeshow, and it’s ideal to be able to quickly reach in to grab a lens, or to throw in a magazine or sample. For a more basic but nice one is Natalino’s, which is an ideal everyday kind of bag. It’s much nicer than other canvas totes that you get for free.
Lifestyle accessories
- Dapper Woodworks custom wooden tie rack (read my review of this, with a 10% discount code here) If your guy is a classic gent with a load of ties, a tie rack is a huge upgrade and the ones that Justin makes at Dapper Woodworks are second to none. He stocks certain base sizes all the time, or you can have him make one custom.
- A style book for peruse over a night cap. P.S. Casual style guide. Afghan Style. A Man and His Watch/Car/Kitchen. Italian Gentleman. This Guy. Dressing the Man. All these books are great. Dressing the Man is the foundational “learn how to dress well” book that all men who want to dress better should read. This Guy is a fantastic photo-rich book of very stylish men from around the world with all types of style, published in 2019, which I appreciate for some more current inspiration. Italian Gentleman is a sumptuous and aspirational book about everybody’s favorite European peninsula and its rich clothing tradition. Afghan Style is National Geographic-level photography with very little text, allowing the images to draw in your attention. Shot in the year-ish before the Taliban re-took control of the country. A Man and His___ by Matt Hranek feature gorgeous photography and interesting stories from the men who are featured. All of these books are worth buying and enjoying. Nothing beats the printed page with high quality binding.
- Clear large cocktail ice mold. It really is nice to have big cubes for a Manhattan or Old Fashioned, and when the ice is clear, it makes it extra fancy.
- Bar spoon and muddler. I didn’t have a bar spoon until recently, and boy has it been an upgrade for the ages. I still need to get a muddler, however, so you know I’m eyeing this one, from Sur La Table.
- The Breville Barista Express OR the Casabrews espresso machine + a Shardor burr grinder. I can’t live without our Breville, and it’s a gift that will benefit everybody in the house. Friends own the Casabrews + Shardor combo, I made espresso on it, and can confirm for a budget option it’s awesome.
- Personal training with an online trainer. I’ve been working with personal trainer Alex Moss (great surname) for several weeks, and he’s helped me up my fitness game through 3x a week training sessions (remotely; he’s in the UK), and macro-nutrient/calorie targets for my diet. Reach out to him to get set up as a client.
- A massage. I would love a massage. Am I ever going to spend the money to book one myself? Never. But if someone paid for one for me, I’d love it.
