The GAT shoe is one of the most revered silhouettes in the sartorial spectrum. Created as a training shoe for the West German Army, the German Army Training Shoe has been reproduced, refined, and improved upon by a range of makers since its discontinuation in the late 1980s.
One of, if not the finest, GATs is Crown Northampton’s Yardley GAT. A luxury sneaker made in Northampton by third- and fourth-generation shoemakers, the Yardley GAT features wholecut calf leather construction, overlaid with shell cordovan from Japan’s legendary Shinki Hikaku tannery.
