Cavour is one of my most-recommended brands. Their style is outstanding and the quality is great for the money. In particular, their blazers/sportcoats and trousers (model 3 especially) are my favorite. They have other, more casual stuff, too, and the Sartoria line of shirts are super high hand-made quality. See my favorites from their sale below.

Trousers

High-rise (“Model 3”)—My preference for dress trousers

Grey high-twist trouser (a staple summer dressy trouser)

Navy linen (I love navy dress trousers and in linen especially when it won’t look like it’s part of a business suit you lost the jacket for)

Cream high-twist (Tough to keep clean, sure, but elegant to boot. I wore a pair of cream high-twist trousers to Pitti and it was awesome)

Medium-rise (“Model 2”)—My preference for more casual uses

Casual bottoms

Terry cloth shorts

Dress Shirts

Cavour’s Sartoria shirts are made in India to a very high standard by a very well known company that is in the top shirtmakers in the world. At half off + extra 10%, they’re a no-brainer.

White oxford spread collar

Blue-white stripe spread collar

Blue herringbone spread collar

They also make a “normal” range of shirts (I’m not clear where they’re made), which are a great value at half off + extra 10%.

Bengal stripe

White oxford cutaway collar

Casual tops

Terry cloth polo in white

CashSilk T-shirt (these are a nice sort of dressed-up thing to wear with tailored trousers. See my Pitti fit for an idea of how this kind of shirt can be worn)

Cotton-Cash-Silk long-sleeve (will definitely wear warmer, and probably too hot for much of summer but will be doable in cooler evenings to come)

Suits

Lots of great suits but these are my favorites. Guys, at extra 10% off (with my email signup) these are nuts prices.

Tobacco linen!!!

High-twist summer navy suit (a great staple navy suit for warmer temps)

Linen navy suit (I have a Cavour navy linen suit and it’s one of my favorites)

Wool-silk-linen navy suit (will wrinkle less than pure wool but still have the good texture)

Beige linen suit

Olive linen suit (I just got an olive suit, though mine is tropical wool, and I love how it works as a neutral, but feels less formal than navy)

Blazers/Sport coats

Montecarlo DB navy blazer (Montecarlo is a fabric range from fabric mill VBC)

Montecarlo club navy blazer (gold buttons can be changed out pretty easily by a tailor)

Tan summer hopsack jacket (what a beautiful color)

Outerwear

Tech summer coat (when it rains and it’s warm out, you need something and this looks great in both beige and navy)

Cotton linen field jacket (sort of a dressier take on an M65, in cotton-linen. This could be a great casual blazer alternative)

The July 4 Sales List I’m Looking At

Happy Independence Day! It's the beginning of seasonal sale… um, season… and retailers use this weekend as an opportunity to give a little extra kicker. Many of the ones below have that, and there are some great deals to be had.

  1. You don’t say where the suiting is made and neither does Cavour’s website. As a buyer from the U.S.A. one needs to know this in order to figure out whether you need to add a 30% or 10% Trump tax. Very frustrating.

    1. Ah sorry! In my original review, I do mention that. I agree their site is annoying in its lack of information on that. (The Sartoria shirts are made in India btw).
I asked them about the tariffs and they were coy, saying nobody has complained about it. Makes me wonder if the forms are getting filled out in the most favorable possible way…
It’d be worth asking them about it yourself in an email if you’re thinking of ordering.
(My review where I mention the made in China thing is here: https://www.menswearmusings.com/cavours-full-blown-neapolitan-tailoring/)
