Just yesterday I was wearing what is perhaps my favorite fall/winter sportcoat: a Lovat tweed gray glen check sportcoat from Cavour. It’s perfect in so many ways: When it’s cold enough, tweed is an ideal daily jacket fabric since it is hard-wearing and pairs so incredibly well with jeans, but dresses up really well too; being gray it goes with most everything; the rugged pattern makes it visually interesting beyond just a plain weave; and most importantly, Cavour’s jacket cut is just perfect. Wide, straight lapels, a long skirt, natural shoulders and the humanistic flourishes Naples is famous for in the form of beautifully shaped rounded hip patch pockets + the barchetta chest pocket. My review of Cavour covers all those things more in depth.
Coming soon Cavour will be running their Black Week promotion—and so in anticipation of that, I thought I’d make a list of my favorite clothes of theirs from this season (it’s been a good season), and announce that if you use code EXTRAMOSS you will get an additional 10% off (and they will give me a commission on the sale, so it’s a win-win proposition). I’ve kept that code secret to just email subscribers until now, so you’re welcome.
Go on with the chlorophyl—er, I mean clothing choices!

Sportcoats
Happily, they are stocking an almost the same jacket this season as the one I just waxed eloquent about, using W.Bill fabric instead of Lovat tweed, but the pattern and colors are virtually the same:

Trousers/Pants
Cavour’s Model 3 trouser is my personal choice and favorite of all the off-the-rack trouser options I’ve tried. Their Model 2 is good if you don’t want to commit to the super-high-rise world or don’t have the figure for it.

[This is a 4-ply high-twist trouser weighing 400g/meter, meaning it’s heavier weight; I’d 100% recommend these as summer trousers, even though they’re part of the winter collection]
